Wings Over Water Wildlife Festival Weekend

Wings Over Water Wildlife Festival is one of the premier wildlife festivals in the United States. It is comprised of dozens of birding, paddling, photography, art and natural history trips, tours and programs. Participants come from all over America and the world to enjoy the beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife
Where: Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Buxton

Time: 9 a.m. - Noon
Join us for a FREE winter climb of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on Saturday, December 8th from 9am - Noon. Volunteers from the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society and Cape Hatteras National Seashore park rangers look forward to greeting local residents and visitors at the lighthouse. Children who wish to climb the lighthouse must be at least 42” tall, and children under 12 years of age must be escorted by a person at least 16 years old. Climbing the lighthouse is strenuous and is equivalent to climbing a 12-story building.

Enjoy a day-long annual holiday event at the Museum. Children and adults alike will marvel at the Winter Wonderland train display by master model builder Charlie Klein. Enjoy children’s holiday craft tables, letters to Santa (almost certainly to receive a reply from Santa) and a professional puppet show. Live entertainment is provided by local choral groups, individual performances by local musicians as well as professional musical entertainment throughout the day. Refreshments available. Purchase fresh, hand crafted holiday decor such as beautiful wreaths. View multi-themed, fully decorated holiday trees, and shoppers will continue to receive an additional 5% off purchases when they bring a donation for the food bank.

Join us as we celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season on Hatteras Island! We will be watching the Annual Hatteras Village Christmas Parade from the front lawn (weather permitting) with food, friendship and fun! In addition, we will be having a wine tasting of fun, holiday favorites!
Hatteras Village Annual Christmas Parade
Where: Highway 12, Hatteras Village
Time: 2 p.m.
The very popular parade is an opportunity for the community to get together and kick off the holiday season on Hatteras Island. The parade will start at the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum and loop through the village, ending at the Hatterasman Drive In. Residents and tourists are invited to park along Highway 12 between to watch the parade pass by. Cheer on floats, fire trucks, bikes, horses, golf carts, emergency personal, and see a special visit from Santa! Make sure to arrive early to reserve the best spot along the route.

Happy New Year's Eve... Old Fart's style! Pangea will open at 5pm on Monday December 31st for those who would like to dine on New Year's Eve. There will be a complimentary champagne toast and anchor drop at 10pm to celebrate 2019. Happy New Year!
