It's official!
The new Ocracoke Passenger Ferry will start service between Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island starting Monday, May 20th. After setbacks with the building of the passenger ferry, the ferry division is leasing the M/V Martha's Vineyard Express from New Jersey for the season. The catamaran style vessel will run passengers 7 days a week between the two islands for three runs per day.
Round trips from the Hatteras Ferry Docks to Silver Lake in Ocracoke will run through the summer on the following schedule:
Departing Hatteras: 9am, 1pm, & 5pm
Departing Ocracoke: 11am, 3pm, & 7pm
A one-way trip will take approx. 70 minutes.
The Ferry Division is offering passengers a free preview of the boat May 20th - 21st. An initial cost of $1 each way will start on May 22nd. No charge for bicycles.
