Walking along the beaches of Hatteras Island, beachcombers come across all kinds of different treasures that have up on the beach. These treasures usually include sea glass, variety of seashells and if you are really lucky, bags of Dorito chips.
In December 2006 a cargo container loaded with Dorito chips washed up on the beach just south of the Frisco Pier. Local volunteers helped to remove the cargo container and bags of chips from the beach. The incident has been dubbed the "Chip-Wreck" by locals.
